In recent years, one of the main focuses of the global economy has been on sustainability and environmental balance. In this context, the initiative of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) and the Bulgarian Independent Energy Exchange (BIE) to establish the Green Finance & Energy Centre represents a significant step towards the country’s transition towards a green economy and sustainable development.
The Green Finance & Energy Centre is an organisation focused on developing and implementing leading practices in sustainable finance and energy. Its mission is to establish itself as a leading think tank that promotes public debate and proposes concrete solutions to the challenges Bulgaria faces in these areas.
The Green Centre seeks to participate in the development of policies that will facilitate the transition to a green economy and sustainable energy in the country. It promotes ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) principles for sustainable finance and energy at a high level among business and government institutions. It also actively participates in global networks, representing Bulgaria in European and global forums focused on sustainable finance and energy.
The Green Centre develops indices and financial instruments, proposing ideas for the development of methodologies for indices and financial instruments based on sustainability principles. It is becoming a factor and leader in the public debate on sustainable finance and energy in Bulgaria.
The organisation operates in partnership with important institutions such as the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Energy, the Financial Supervision Commission and the Fund of Funds. Representatives from business, NGOs, academia and global consultancies participate in the organisation.
